THE DAILY IOWAN offers University of Iowa scholarships for outstanding high school journalists. Our goal in creating this scholarship is to bring top students to The University of Iowa and to THE DAILY IOWAN newsroom. The scholarships will be for $4,500 (in-state tuition) per school year and will be given in two equal payments, one at the beginning of each semester.

The scholarship recipients will also be required to work in THE DAILY IOWAN newsroom in some capacity, which will be decided by the editor of THE DAILY IOWAN. The scholarships will be renewable on a semester-by-semester basis, for a maximum of four years, provided satisfactory progress has been made both in academic work and in the newsroom. The students will be paid a newsroom salary above and beyond the scholarship.

All applications must be returned by January 31, 2008; recipients will be notified by March 1, 2008. All supportive materials for the application will become property of THE DAILY IOWAN and will not be returned to the applicant. Minority students are encouraged to apply.
