Maybe it was the lack of in-state talent. Maybe it was Iowa's recruiting strategy. Or maybe it was the Hawkeyes' 6-6 record. But something was keeping elite prospects from signing with Ferentz.

Hailing from a country that has never seen one of its athlete advance beyond the semifinals of the Olympics in track and field, Hawkeye standout senior Kineke Alexander will attempt to be the first in the 400 meters this year.
A native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, she will represent both the University of Iowa and her country when she travels to Beijing to compete in the 2008 Summer Olympics.

As sophomore Katie Brown buried her cleats into the batter's box to face Iowa assistant coach Michelle Venturella during Wednesday's practice, the outfield began to rumble.
