It's been almost five months since the keg-registration policy was put into effect, and local liquor-store managers say they have seen no change in the number of kegs purchased.
Though some underage students have been caught trying to register kegs with fake IDs, Mark Harrod, the manager of the Liquor House, 326 S. Clinton St., says the registration policy has not deterred people from buying kegs.

The majority of the UI investigation into an alleged Hillcrest sexual assault is over, though there may be an indefinite amount of time before the public finds out anything, Charles Green, the assistant vice president for the UI police, said on Monday.
"The investigation certainly is moving along," he said. "The bulk of the work is behind us."

Experts are expecting Iowa shoppers to stay at home this holiday season despite a slight uptick in the spending average of families nationwide.
A report released Nov. 20 by the Conference Board, a national business research organization, found that the western north-central United States - Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and the Dakotas - is expected to spend $397 per family, compared with the estimated nationwide average of $471.

Trial set in alleged meth-lab case
A date has been set for an Iowa City man to go to trial stemming from his alleged ties to methamphetamine production.
Zachary Young, 23, is set to stand trial on Feb. 4, 2008, on five different charges after the alleged discovery of a methamphetamine lab on Taft Speedway.
