Much-loved track coach Grant dies

Two months after revealing his tragic battle with terminal illness and nearly two years after being diagnosed with cancer, Iowa women's track coach James Grant died Monday morning in Iowa City. He was 60.

One of the longest-tenured coaches at the university, Grant had worked in the track program since he became an assistant in 1986, and he was in his 11th season as head coach of the women's team. (1) comment

Mike Huckabee opened his Republican presidential-nomination campaign appearance at the North Liberty Pizza Ranch on Monday by joking that the Midwestern pizza chain's locations throughout Iowa have become de facto campaign headquarters for him.
