Baseball heads for Missouri State

The Iowa baseball team will begin its three-game road series against Missouri State on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
The Hawkeye will play a single game first and follow up with a double-header on March 9 beginning at noon. Each game is schedule to go at least nine innings.
Iowa (3-3) will face a 5-2 Bear team that went 23-34 overall and 7-17 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Last weekend, Missouri State went 2-2 against the University of Central Arkansas. Bear right fielder Nolan Keane batted 8-for-15 in the series.
The Hawkeyes also had a star coming out of their tournament in Nashville, Tenn., last weekend. Wes Freie went 9-for-12 in the three-game tourney and 4-for-4 against No. 7 Vanderbilt.
Right-hander Brock Alberts will pitch on Saturday after throwing five scoreless innings in relief against Xavier on Feb. 29.
Lefty Mike Jacobs is expected to take the mound in the fist game of the double-header on March 9. Junior Nick Erdman will follow in the second game.
