A cavalera dressed to resemble Mexican artist Frida Kahlo sits in the Afro-American Cultural Center on Thursday to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Members of Sigma Lambda Gamma sorority organized the event, which included traditional Mexican food and included a speech and slide show about the holiday by Rachel Garza Carreon. Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Mexican holiday that occurs on the first and second days of November, during which family members joyfully celebrate and honor the lives of their deceased relatives and loved ones.
