The Iowa men's track team will travel to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Nike Stanford Invitational this weekend. Stanford's Angell Field and Cobb Track will host events beginning today at noon.
Senior captain Adam Hamilton (hammer throw) and sophomore John Hickey (shot put) have already qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional, and the Hawkeyes hope to add a few to the list.
The throwers, sprinters, and jumpers have all competed thus far in the outdoor season, leaving the distance squad the only contingent left waiting to run.
Among the group are seniors Jeff Kent and Micah VanDenend. VanDenend's last outing was a meet record-breaker at the indoor Last Chance Meet in Ames on March 3 in the 5,000 meters.
