Women's tennis off to California
Issue date: 3/9/07 Section: Sports
The 56th-ranked Iowa women's tennis team (5-4) will travel to California over spring break for its final meets of the spring season against nonconference opponents.
With similar positions in the FILA poll, the Hawkeyes should see solid competition from 70th-ranked San Diego State (March 13) and 58th-ranked Long Beach State (March 15).
"Long Beach State is a much better team than it's ranked," Iowa head coach Daryl Greenan said. "It's going to be a heck of a challenge."
Greenan said going from indoor courts to outdoor courts is a "bit tricky," as well as other factors involved with traveling.
"Time difference and jet lag always affect you," he said. "But we're getting there pretty early Saturday, so we'll be on the courts three days before we play."
