Officials representing UI students
![]() |
After what many consider to be one of the most grueling elections in recent UI Student Government history, Go Party won the race to represent the undergraduate students, taking 54 percent of student votes.
Go Party is led by President Mike Currie, Vice President JD Moran, and executive Sens. John Rigby and Amanda Boleyn.
What they want to do
Here’s a look at the leaders’ key issues:
• Renovate the IMU basement to make it more student friendly
• Implement a lock-in on tuition so tuition costs stay consistent from freshman to senior year
• Install City Carton receptacles around the dorms
• Hold monthly forums for students to question UISG and other university officials
• Bring wireless Internet access to all areas of the campus
• Make the second-grade option available to all students, despite the original grade they hold in the class
• Install U-bill parking meters for parking lots so students can use their cards rather than coins

Get involved
UI Student Government — made up of a president, vice president, senators, and more — typically meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Old Capitol Senate Chambers. The members encourage students to share comments, because they represent the students, provide a bridge to upper-level officials, and also allocate roughly $800,000 to student groups and lobby in Des Moines.
Even though elections for the 2009-10 year are over, freshmen can still be senators. Just contact one of this year’s student officials soon to find out how.
