Editorial: Progress on sexual assault hard to see

Not one week after the report of a sexual assault, another crime of a sexual nature has been reported, bringing the total for the academic year to eight in the second full month of the semester.

One of the first things I noticed when I came to campus as a freshman was that no matter where I looked, I could find international students. While it wasn't immediately obvious which students were born in countries outside of the US, it quickly became more apparent.

Any admission process, be it for college or a competitive internship or graduate school, can make you feel flat … it reduces you to a fraction within a pile of papers. Goucher College, a liberal-arts school in Maryland, is hoping to inspire change in the application process by replacing traditional elements of a college application with the submission of a short personal video clip.
