Authorities have accused a Cedar Rapids man of giving a false check to the Fast Cash location in Iowa City.

Shante Jefferson, 23, was charged with forgery on June 9.

Jefferson allegedly presented the check to Fast Cash.

The check appeared to be from Starbucks and had a value of $720.10. Once the check was cashed, it was sent to the bank for processing, and it became clear the check was faulty, according to a police report.

Forgery is a Class-D felony.
