Bluegrass with a twist

Vincent said Iowa City audiences can expect a level of spontaneity and fun tonight at 8 p.m. at the Englert Theatre, 221 E. Washington, where Dailey and Vincent — dubbed the “rockstars of bluegrass” by CMT — will perform as part of their current tour.


Heading into vinyl

Mike Morsch, author of The Vinyl Dialogues, will be reading at Prairie Lights, 15 S. Dubuque, at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Morsch said his goal was to record pieces of rock and roll history in the 1970s through the eyes of the artists who lived it and created the music.


Snoopy heads to the stage

The classic antics and adventures of the Charles Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip are coming alive in Amana, through the staging of Snoopy!! The Musical by the Old Creamery Theatre Company.

Doors open at the Iowa City Yacht Club, 13 S. Linn, for eclectic Ghanaian percussionist Paa Kow and his band By All Means this Saturday at 9 p.m., part of the release tour for his new album Ask, being released August 19.
