Students who make their way back to the University of Iowa campus in August most likely will not be greeted by flood-protection measures.

University officials will begin removing flood barriers, as well as other protective measures, on Aug. 4.

This week, officials will remove the floodwalls around Art Building West, as well as along the east and west banks of the Iowa River. Water-pump generators and fuel tanks will also be removed this week, in addition to drain plugs.

General cleanup and repairs will also be made to the campus landscape and sidewalks this week.

HESCO barriers in front of Mayflower Residence Hall have been removed, and Beckwith Boathouse has reopened.

Iowa City officials have also reopened all lanes of North Dubuque Street.
