Man charged with third OWI

A local man has been accused of driving while intoxicated.

Dominic Axton, 36, 1471 Valley View Drive, was charged on Thursday with third-offense OWI.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, officers responded to a report of a fight at Coach’s Corner Sports Pub, 749 Mormon Trek Boulevard. While officers were on route, they were informed that the subject involved in the fight had left in a vehicle and drove into a Kum & Go.

According to the complaint, The officers observed the defendant sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine running. The officers observed that the defendant had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and admitted to having too much to drink.

Third offense OWI is a Class- D felony.
