Vote for Porter, Cole, Botchway

We have very good candidates to choose from for Iowa City City Council. On Tuesday, November 5, I will vote for Royceann Porter, Rockne Cole, and Kingsley Botchway. They represent constituents, ideas, and perspectives that we need on our city council. They are dynamic leaders with a passion for public service and a drive to improve our community. If you want a community that is more inclusive, that embraces diversity, that encourages creative entrepreneurship, that supports local business, that encourages economic growth city wide, that works with other local governments, and that makes affordable housing, living wage jobs, and the environment a priority, then join me in supporting Porter, Cole, and Botchway.

Back Mims

There’s a lot going on, but don’t forget the importance of Tuesday. On or before that day, Iowa City voters have the opportunity to determine who will be members of our seven-person City Council.

I hope one of your votes will go to Susan Mims. Initially elected in 2009, Susan has served with distinction on the council since then. An illustration of her team-oriented leadership skills is the fact that she was elected by her council colleagues to be mayor pro tem.

Susan’s formal background in engineering provides her with analytical thinking skills, while her extensive financial planning experience is of vital importance for decisions involving Iowa City’s financial decisions. In addition she understands the responsibilities, needs, and concerns of a family with four children and extended family with grandchildren.

For a logical, practical, plain speaking council member, I urge you to vote for Susan Mims. And don’t forget how easy it is to vote early, which is now available at the Johnson County Administrative Building.

Vote for Mims

Our city is facing a number of important challenges. The upcoming Nov. 5 election gives us the opportunity to choose the best qualified and most experienced city council members to lead us through these challenges.

Susan Mims is the kind of leader we need to support. Her knowledge and experience, balanced with strong morals and common sense, will assure us that wise decisions will be made.

Susan has the understanding to resolve difficult financial issues. With limited revenue, the council must make wise budget decisions based on forward-looking economic principles, not increased tax rates.

Susan has a deep concern for resolving community diversity issues, thus making Iowa City a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.

Susan is a great listener, analytical thinker, and expert planner. Hence, she’s an effective participant in council discussions that lead to wise decisions.

Please be sure to vote on or before Tuesday, and join me in voting for a real winner, Susan Mims.
