For the second season in a row, the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee has chosen The University of Iowa and Carver-Hawkeye Arena as one of the 16 host sites for the first and second round of the 2014 Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, the University of Iowa Athletic Communications announced Wednesday.

The games will either take place on Saturday, March 22 and Monday, March 24 or Sunday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 25. The final dates will be determined Oct. 21-23, and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

The Hawkeyes hosted the first and second round in 2013 as well. Iowa, a 9 seed, was selected to the NCAA tournament for the sixth consecutive year in 2013, and hosted 8 seed Miami in the first round, a 69-53 win. The team then faced off against 1 seed Notre Dame, a season ending 74-57 loss within Carver.

This will be the 13th time since 1986 that The University of Iowa has served as a host for the NCAA tournament. Carver-Hawkeye Arena was the third-best attended site among the 16 in 2013, with drawings of 6,836, and the sixth best draw for second round games with 4,942.

“We are extremely excited to host first and second round NCAA Tournament games again this season,” Iowa women’s basketball head coach Lisa Bluder said in a release. “This gives the University of Iowa and our women’s basketball team a chance to showcase our great arena for a second-straight year. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host this terrific event.”
