Editorial: Council handling Gateway well

On Tuesday, the Iowa City City Council heard community concerns about the Gateway project, a plan to raise Dubuque Street and Park Road bridge above flood level. Though some opposed the idea entirely, a consensus that something had to be done was apparent.

Byrd: Gerrymandered to death

It's official - the United States Government is closed for business. The operations of the government of the most powerful country on the planet were brought to a halt by a radical, ultra-conservative, extremist wing of the Republican Party which rejected its own leader's attempts at avoiding a government shutdown all over the funding of a law which aims to provide access to basic healthcare for millions of uninsured Americans.

Richson: The dangers of CrossFit

The adage "less is more" generally isn't applied to exercise in our society. The norm presented by the media is to value, admire, and constantly pursue fitness as an ideal, often at extreme costs. The latest manifestation of extreme pursuit falls is the workout craze CrossFit, a military-style group fitness blitz.
