Editorial: Act to stop bullying

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has long been an advocate for anti-bullying measures. Now, Branstad is finding support for more action nationwide from two of Iowa's congressional representatives.


Tilly: Killing Obamacare

On Tuesday, Ted Cruz, the first-term Republican from Texas, took to the Senate floor to deliver a fake filibuster. During his rant, undoubtedly calculated to reinforce his reputation as a conservative troublemaker in the Senate, Cruz advocated for a recently passed House resolution that would prevent a government shutdown only if funding for Obamacare is eliminated, a measure that would effectively kill the controversial law.


Beall: The Pope's new priorities

I consider myself a skeptic when it comes to organized religion, so when Pope Francis decided to only accept what has been called "modest accommodations" in Rome and to ride in a used Ford Focus instead of the BMWs or Mercedes of his predecessors, I wasn't impressed.
