Iowa men's golf finish 11th after second round of Windon Memorial Classic
Iowa senior Steven Ihm led the Hawkeyes with a 68 (minus-4) and 74 (plus-2) in the first two rounds of play at the Windon Memorial Classic in Lake Forest, Ill., on Sunday, leaving him in a ties for ninth.
The Hawkeyes shot a 293 (plus-5) in the first round, tying for the ninth-best team total. In the second round the Hawkeyes fell to 11th after a score of 297.
“I felt we had a decent start today,” Iowa head coach Mark Hankins said in a release. “As a team, we need to do a better job of minimizing our mistakes.”
Iowa is currently 21 strokes behind leader Kent State, which shot a 569 (minus-7) on Sunday.
Tee times for the final round of the Windon Memorial Classic will run from 8 a.m. until around 10:06 a.m.
