For the third-consecutive day, students, faculty, and staff in the state’s fifth-largest school district will receive a break from the current unseasonably high temperatures.

All 25 schools in the district will dismiss two hours early today because of the heat.

Several buildings in the district lack complete air conditioning.

The National Weather Service predicts a high temperature around 93 degrees today. Heat index values are anticipated to be as high as 102.

On Tuesday, The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Johnson County that will remain in effect until 7 p.m. today.

Iowa City was also listed under a heat advisory Monday, when the district released early as well.
