Editorial: Compromise to encourage growth

On Tuesday, President Obama outlined his proposal for a compromise on the economy that would lower corporate tax rates and increase spending on infrastructure projects and funding for community colleges. The prospect of a less onerous corporate tax system and a renewed investment in American infrastructure are too enticing to write off as a partisan gimmick.

Overton: College is still worth it

We've all heard the stories. Young person goes to college, graduates with thousands of dollars in debt, can't get his or her desired job, gets stuck working at a fast food joint and moves back in with mom and dad. Stories such as that lead many to question whether a college education is still worthwhile.

Gay marriage has been legal in Iowa for four years now. The Supreme Court has deemed the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional, and gay marriage is now legal in 13 states and the District of Columbia. But what happened to all the terrible things that were supposed to happen in the aftermath of gay marriage in our state and our country?
