An Overland Park, Kan., man has been charged after allegedly tampering with a witness.

Jovani Galvan, 27, was charged on July 23 with tampering with a witness.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, on July 22, Galvan was informed by officers that he had been charged with trespassing for reportedly entering a Briar Drive residence without permission.

Later that day, Galvan allegedly sent a text message to the resident, threatening to inform West Liberty police of illegal drug activity taking place at a bar she owns if she didn’t drop the trespassing charge.

Officers issued a similar warning for trespassing on July 20.

Tampering with a witness is an aggravated misdemeanor.
