ARIES (March 21-April 19): Take a step back, and re-evaluate your next move. Impulse will be the enemy, especially when it comes to matters pertaining to your personal or professional reputation. Compromise will help you get your way and avoid unnecessary arguments.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Share your thoughts and feelings, and engage in community events and family discussions. You can make a difference if you speak your mind and offer reasonable solutions. Secure your position among your peers. A partnership will help you explore new avenues.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Put everything you've got into work, employment, chores, or anything else that can raise your profile and up your income. Don't let a domestic situation or poor relationship ruin a chance to get ahead. Make a change if it will improve your position.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): Insight into the relationships you have with people you feel responsible for will help you make a difficult choice. Don't stick to normal procedures if you can come up with a solution that satisfies your needs as well as those influenced by your decision.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You will have to look for the less obvious options if you want to make a wise move professionally or financially. Setting a budget or putting restrictions on luxury items will help you make a positive lifestyle change that will ease your stress.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Make plans, and follow through. A chance to investigate a hobby or professional possibility should be your goal. Talk to someone you've worked with in the past whose knowledge will help steer you in the right direction. Love is highlighted.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Keep a close watch over anyone who has the potential to influence your position or your future. You must be prepared to counter any negativity or sudden turn of events in a positive and professional manner. Your actions will make a difference.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Try something new, and mingle with those who inspire or motivate you. Travel, or take part in events that will open your mind to unique philosophies or ways of doing things. Let your intuition lead the way.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Deception and disillusionment are likely if you believe everything you hear. Put more time and effort into building your reputation and making plans that will improve the way you live or where. Don't spend or act impulsively.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Partnerships must be looked at closely. A chance to benefit financially because of a personal contract or settlement is evident. Separate your emotions from your plan of attack. Taking control will be necessary to avoid a loss.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Steer clear of anyone expressing inconsistency. It's important that you stay on track and strive to make choices that show discipline and professionalism. Take care of your responsibilities, but don't take chores that don't belong to you.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Fix up your surroundings, and look over contracts and personal papers. There is money to be made and projects to pursue. Be creative in the way you move about your business, and express passion regarding your goals.

HAIKU-A-THON 2013:

A distinct mixture:
worry, sadness, entrapment.
"Will you marry me?"

College teaches you
the importance of learning,
but after the fact.

The bar was hoppin'.
Lots of respectable gals.
So we went elsewhere.

You cheated on me?
I'd have expected better
from my own mistress.

You give and you give,
and while I do need money,
please keep your two cents.

My family tree,
few branches but still shady,
and so full of saps.

I pay her with laughs,
and though she accepts, she tires
of minimum wage.

"Y'all talk funny,"
she said of the Iowans
in a Southern drawl.

"Lacks ability."
But my teachers had it wrong:
Lax ability.

I am very smart.
My IQ is 91.
That's an A-minus.

Life is like haiku:
it bulges in the middle.
Too short, too long, too —

Andrew R. Juhl,
you should write him a haiku;
he did so for you.
