Editorial: UI's alcohol culture changing

According to the report, a survey of University of Iowa students released last month, the proportion of UI students that have used alcohol in the past 30 days fell to about 75 percent. That's ten points lower than the 2009 rate and the lowest recorded rate since data was first collected in 1991.

Ponnada: The myth of the hook-up culture

Before I got to college, I had a bunch of wild ideas about what life in this foreign environment would entail. I had heard various descriptions about the "fabulous" college life from older friends who had graduated high school and gone off to explore the world. I had also seen Legally Blonde, along with tons of other movies and TV shows that overall depicted college as a sexual utopia where young people prance around naked and drink from fountains of beer.

Overton: Return of the Republicans

I rather miss the 2012 presidential campaign - at least as entertainment. The Republican primaries looked like a competition to see who could take the most outlandish positions from opposing contraception to supporting a moon base. The good times are coming back soon.
