Coralville man charged with OWI

A Coralville man had been charged after allegedly being involved in an automobile accident while under the influence of alcohol.

Edmond Guiste, 39, was charged June 22 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, his third OWI charge.

According to an Iowa City police complaint, Guiste, the driver of a vehicle involved in a collision, had watery, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of consumed alcohol. Guiste admitted to consuming three or five beers and having a little too much to drink, the complaint said, and he displayed measurable impairment on one part of the field sobriety tests. Guiste refused subsequent field sobriety and breath tests, the complaint said.

Third-offense OWI is a Class-D Felony.
