Editorial: Reform the patent system

Yesterday, in a blow to many genetic drug monopolies, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that sections of the human genome may not be patented. This ruling puts to rest one major patent law problem, but there is still much to be done to repair the broken American patent system.

Ziemer: Obama's moral decline

I was an active supporter of President Obama in 2007. Much was promised, including strong moral leadership from the community organizer, constitutional-law professor, and outspoken senator.  But it is near impossible today - and especially after recent weeks - to see the moral change we were promised.

My plane hovered around the Beijing Capital International Airport before descending, and all I could see was a thick haze covering the sky. The woman next to me opened the screen to the window completely yet only a bit of light was let in. I was anxious to step off the plane, yet I listened intently to the instructions from the flight attendant as this could likely be the last time I heard English spoken for a little while.
