The Iowa City City Council approved an update to its 30-year comprehensive plan by a 7-0 vote.

The Iowa City 2030 Comprehensive Plan, meant to guide city development, was adopted in 1997.

The city held community meetings and made updates to the original plan based on community input, in person and online.

The city’s Planning and Zoning commission recommended approval of the comprehensive plan update at its April 4 meeting.
