Iowa men's golf finishes in top three at Big Tens

The Iowa men’s golf team placed third in this past weekend’s Big Ten championships, which were held in French Lick, Ind.

The Hawkeyes scored a team score of 1,186 (plus-34) during the four-day tournament. Illinois won the event, carding a score of 1,163.

Sophomore Joseph Winslow was the top finisher for the Black and Gold, tying for fifth place with Purdue’s Adam Schenk. They shot a cumulative 292, 4-over. Illinois’s Thomas Pieters was the only player under par for the championship, and he won the tournament by 5 strokes at 284.

Steven Ihm picked up his fourth-consecutive top-20 finish. The Peosta, Iowa native, shot 9-over, which earned him a tie for 13th.

Brian Bullington just narrowly missed out on the top-20, placing in a tie for 23rd. Bullington finished plus-13.

Ian Vandersee tied for 33rd. He shot a 305, and freshman Nate Yankovich finished tied for 37th at 19-over.

The Hawkeyes have NCAA regionals at a yet-to-be-determined location starting May 16.
