The Iowa City School District will have roughly 1,100 students for the 2013-14 school year, and school officials say they are planning accordingly.

April 18 was the School District’s “kindergarten round-up,” in which families go to their intended elementary school to give officials an idea of how many students will enroll in the fall. This is a follow-up to registering their children.

“Roughly 1,000 students were registered to enroll before the kindergarten round-up, and 900 families made it to the kindergarten round-up,” said Assistant Superintendent Becky Furlong. “We anticipate the kindergarten class to be around 1,100 students and will be planning accordingly.”

For the 2012-13 school year, there were roughly 12,000 students in the district.
