ARIES (March 21-April 19): Do whatever it takes to improve your environment, community, or relationships with people you'd like to collaborate with. Mix business with pleasure if it will help secure the support you need to reach your goals. Love is in the stars.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You'll size up situations with ease and know exactly how to proceed if you act on your basic instincts. A partnership will lead to a series of events that will be informative and inspiring. Avoid conflict with authority figures.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Talking big but not following through will be your downfall and jeopardize your position. Show what you can do, and offer what's reasonable — nothing more. Your reputation is at stake. Romance is on the rise.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): Question anyone you feel uncomfortable around or who pushes you in an uncompromising direction. Don't be afraid to go it alone in order to achieve your goals. You'll gain the most if you follow a unique creative path. Protect your position.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): You need to spice up your life by adding a little excitement and adventure. Engaging in a physical challenge or an intimate encounter with someone you feel drawn to will get you moving in a new direction that offers new beginnings.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Keep your plans simple. Looking over pending legal, financial, or contractual papers will help you make a wise choice regarding your professional direction. Being reasonable and responsible will lead to a bright future. Don't give in to demands.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Expand your interests, or open up to a new way of doing things. Socializing or networking will encourage new opportunities. A change in the way you view relationships will give you the confidence required to restructure an important partnership.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Your emotions will cause confusion if you have too many personal interests. Trying to fit too much into your day will cause you to fall short. Pick and choose who and what's most important to you. Be realistic — you won't be disappointed.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Too much choice will lead to mistakes or mishaps. Put more effort into what's important to you. Disregard the demands being put on you by selfish individuals. Home, family, and making your surroundings a place of comfort should be your goal.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Not everyone will view things the same way you do. Be prepared to compromise if you want to accomplish anything at all. A unique approach to a job should be implemented in order to improve your vocational advancement.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Size up your situation, and refuse to let anyone stand in your way. Let your inventive mind lead the way, and you will come up with a workable solution that can increase your earning potential. Don't be afraid to be different.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Don't stifle the way you feel or alter your plans to move forward. It's expressing what you want that will help you reach your goals. Not everyone will comply, but you will find out quickly who is willing and who isn't.

Random thoughts:

• I don't understand why we even bother crowning a Miss America each year. For a third of the money we could get two Miss Mexicos to do the same job — and do it better.

• Ever notice how, each year, wedding season begins about three weeks after prom season ends?

• How heated do you think the debate was about which month would be Dwarfism Awareness Month (October)? Do you think anyone in the room even had the balls to suggest February?

• Hey, Dillard's, I don't need a "4-in-1 Spring Jacket," thanks; that's a bit too crowded for me.

• If someone says to you, "How did you get in here? This is a secure federal facility." … then they probably won't be too amused when you acknowledge that it is clearly not.

• When can I stop being polite and start getting real? Also, what's the etiquette on that? Should I send out a mass email cautioning my friends, family, and coworkers about the forthcoming polite-to-real changeover?

• Yesterday, I received a magazine in the mail and on the back cover was a pro-vegetarian advertisement featuring a cow, along with a message (purportedly from that cow) about how cruel I would be if I ate her. I put the magazine on my coffee table, and I put a glass of ice water on top of the magazine. When I later took a drink of the water, I noticed that the condensation from the glass has dripped onto the magazine, making it look like the cow was now crying tears of unfathomable sadness. Today, I had a hamburger for lunch.

Andrew R. Juhl honestly wonders what horse steak tastes like.
