A local man was accused of reckless driving and nearly striking a vehicle head on.

Cory Woodburn, 33, was charged March 31 with third-offense OWI and driving while barred.

Iowa City police received a complaint of a reckless driver near Prairie Du Chien and Newport. The complaint stated that a White Ford F150 almost struck a vehicle head-on and was driving all over the road.

Officers located the vehicle and reportedly observed it crossing the center lane on two occasions. The police stopped Woodburn’s vehicle. Woodburn had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance, and smelled of ingested alcohol, the police complaint said.

Woodburn allegedly admitted to officials to consuming alcohol prior to driving.

Third-offense OWI is a Class-D felony. Driving while barred is an aggravated misdemeanor.
