The Iowa City police are in the process of filming a new recruitment video following community debate, according to city documents.

Iowa City Police Chief Sam Hargadine wrote to City Manager Tom Markus saying that the department’s recruitment video, developed four years ago, “has been a point of community debate due to the chosen music, imagery, and companion music video.”

Hargadine said the old video will be replaced by a new video, which will focus on the city’s strategic plan as well as the benefits of living and working in Iowa City. Iowa City police partnered with the Iowa City Cable Division in February to begin the process of filming the new video, the letter said.
