Sharing information without consent abuse of power

The Daily Iowan Editorial Board believes that some kind of information-sharing program is necessary between the University of Iowa and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, but that the transmission of confidential academic information without direct consent is a disgusting misuse of power.

Pulkrabek: Johnson County Sheriff responds to gun permit information sharing

The waiver they sign is on the Iowa Application Permit to Carry Weapons. In part, it has the wording that includes "all records concerning the applicant whether said records are of a public, private or confidential nature."
