A local man was arrested after eight prepackaged marijuana bags were allegedly found in his backpack.

Jacob Pikowski, 20, was accused Feb. 22 with controlled-substance violation and possessing or distributing a taxable substance without a tax stamp.

Iowa City police responded to a noise complaint at a loud party. Officers noted that heavy smoke was coming from the residence and the tenant of the residence was running around trying to find the source of the fire. Pikowski consented to a police search, and police officers allegedly located eight prepackaged marijuana baggies for sale in Pikowski’s backpack.

Controlled-substance violation is a Class-D felony. Possession/distribution of taxable substance without a tax stamp is a Class-D felony.
