A Coralville man was arrested after choking his girlfriend’s sister for asking him to move out.

Bradley McCaughey, 26, was accused Feb. 16 with obstruction of emergency communications and domestic abuse.

McCaughey confronted his victim after she asked him to move out. The confrontation became physical as McCaughey started to choke the victim from behind. The victim suffered bruising and swelling, the police complaint said. As the victim tried to call the police, McCaughey took the phone from her hand.

Obstruction of emergency communications is a serious misdemeanor. Domestic abuse is a class-D felony.
