Ill. woman charged with second- degree theft

A Moline, Ill. woman has been accused of stealing merchandise in a Coralville department store with the intent of reselling it to her friends.

According to a Coralville police complaint, Amalia Lezama, 31, 2717 16th St., was charged Nov. 30 with second-degree theft.

Lezama allegedly selected merchandise from Dillard’s and concealed it in the store bags from a previous Dillard’s purchase. She then admitted to taking the merchandise in order to resell it to her friends.

Second-degree theft of less than $1,000 is a Class-D felony punishable up to five years in prison with a maximum fine of $7,500.
