An Iowa City man faces numerous charges after Iowa City police conducted a traffic stop Tuesday.

According to a series of Iowa City police complaints, Julius Griggs Jr., 37, 6 Amber Lane, was driving a white Chevrolet truck with no license plates. After an officer initiated a traffic stop aand made contact with Griggs, he reportedly  noticed Griggs had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, according to the complaints.

The complaints also said Griggs allegedly had bloodshot, watery eyes and slow, slurred speech. Griggs allegedly failed field sobriety tests but refused a breath test. The complaints said Griggs initially said he had a few drinks that evening, but then changed his story, saying he hadn’t had anything to drink.

Griggs has three previous OWI convictions, according to the complaints.

Griggs is charged with third-offense OWI, a Class-D felony, and driving with a revoked license.
