Gabe's will bring Dick Dale's guitar music to the Iowa City music community from 9 to 11:59 p.m. Saturday at Gabe's, 330 E. Washington St.

Dale, an electric guitarist known as the "King of the Surf Guitar," will play the concert with son Jimmy on drums.

Scott Kading, the owner of and talent buyer for Gabe's and the Yacht Club, said Dale is "super stoked" about this show.

"He's played some phenomenal shows at Gabe's in the past, before we owned it, and I've always wanted to have him back and have spoken to him in the past, but we couldn't make it work at the Yacht Club," Kading said. "A cool side note is that we have local guitar legend Daddy-O opening for surf-guitar legend Dick Dale."

Dale has made waves since the '60s. According to Gabe's website, he invented surf music in the '50s. And at the age 75, Dale is still rocking out at live shows.

The event is restricted to patrons 19 and over. General admission is $20; reserved admission is $150.
