Junior Hawkeye guard Jaime Printy was named to the preseason All-Big Ten team by league coaches and the media, the conference announced on Thursday.

Printy became the youngest player in school history to garner All-America honors after the Associated Press named her an honorable mention All-American following the 2010-11 season.

The Marion native averaged 16.8 points per game last season. The junior led the Hawkeyes in scoring 13 times and tallied double-digit scoring efforts in 27 of Iowa's 31 contests.

Printy enters the 2011-12 season with 1,021 career points; she's the youngest player in school history to amass 1,000 points. At her current pace, the 21-year-old will likely have an opportunity to break the Iowa all-time scoring mark of 2,059 held by Cindy Haugejorde (1976-80).

Also named to the preseason all-Big Ten team were Ohio State's Samantha Prahalis, Penn State's Alexa Bentley, Illinois' Karisma Penn, and Michigan State's Lykendra Johnson. A pair of seniors — Prahalis and Bentley — shared preseason conference Player of the Year accolades.

Big Ten coaches predicted Printy and Iowa will finish third in the conference this season, behind Penn State and Purdue.

Iowa will open the season with an exhibition against Winona State on Nov. 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
