Iowa City police arrested a resident of the Hope House after he allegedly escaped and assaulted his girlfriend.

Robert Alan Wofford Jr., 26, was charged Sept. 15 with third and subsequent domestic assault and absence from custody.

According to reports, Wofford allegedly struck his girlfriend on the face, right arm, and left breast, causing bruising, before fleeing.

Wofford's failure to return to the Hope House marks the second since spring, following an incident in which a man charged with involuntary manslaugher escaped the facility. He was later apprehended.
