Coralville man charged with OWI

A Coralville man was arrested a third time for driving while intoxicated.

David McKay Elmquist, 26, was charged July 22 with third-offense OWI.

According to a complaint, Elmquist was the driver of vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop.

Upon contact, police allegedly noticed Elmquist has slurred speech and red, bloodshot eyes.

Officers said Elmquist performed poorly in field sobriety tests and submitted a .280 in a preliminary breath test.

Third-offense OWI is a Class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $9,375.
