Iowa cornerback Shaun Prater has been named a preseason All-American by Lindy’s 2011 Big Ten Football magazine on Tuesday, according to a release.

The Omaha native was first-team all-Big Ten as a junior last season, when he started all 12 games, pulled down four interceptions, and recorded 68 total tackles (50 unassisted).

Prater was also joined by teammates Riley Reiff and James Morris on Lindy’s Preseason All-Big Ten team. Prater and Reiff, an offensive linemen, were on the first team, while linebacker Morris made the second team.

Defensive linemen Broderick Binns and Mike Daniels were also honored on Wednesday, and were named to the inaugural Pony Express Award Watch List. The award will be announced at the end of the season and will recognize tandems of teammates whose “work ethic, desire, on-and
off-field leadership and playmaking ability best fuel their team,” according to the release.

Binns and Daniels will anchor the defensive line this season after combining for 10 sacks in 2010.
