Humalog and Lantus pens are pre-filled with insulin that help to control blood sugar levels. This lightweight, pocket-sized prefilled pen is used by attaching a needle to the top and the pen can be used just about anywhere — there is no refrigeration needed after first use. The University of Iowa plans on putting about 200 sharp disposal bins around campus to accommodate diabetics and those that use needles.
