Colorado-based Jet Edison will perform with OSG at the Yacht Club, 13 S. Linn St., at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $6.

Jet Edison members Adam Mason, Alex Johnson, Max Kabat, and Phil Johnson met at the University of Colorado in 2008. The four friends had a passion for learning about environmental studies as well as music. Together they created music that incorporated a multitude of genres, including rock, jazz, and funk.

The band’s full-length CD, Adopt a Highway, combines its interest in preserving the environment with music. The album cover and band poster are made from recyclable paper. In the future, Jet Edison may use vegetable oil instead of gasoline for the band’s vehicle.

Since its birth, Jet Edison has played more than 70 shows each year. It is recognized for its improvisation of songs on stage, and lengthy yet energetic performances. At Colorado’s Nedfest show, the group played a 5 1/2 hour set — with no breaks. Playing till 4 a.m. is not out of the ordinary for Jet Edison.

Iowa City is Jet Edison’s third stop on its Midwest tour. It will continue to travel through Iowa, also stopping in Cedar Rapids and Ames.
