The Iowa women's track and field team had a number of highlights in its two meets on April 16.

At the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala., senior Bethany Praska set a school record and a personal college best in the 800 meters. Previously held by Kay Stormo with a time of 2:05.67 in 1982, Praska checked in at 2:05.46.

Also at Auburn, the 4x4 relay team of Praska, senior captain Tiffany Hendricks, freshman Ashley Liverpool, and junior Nicole Erickson just missed beating the school record by 0.26 seconds. They finished second among 21 squads and finished the race with a time of 3:36.52, only 0.5 seconds behind Auburn, the first-place finisher.

Although Anderson said the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines was hampered by snow, wind, and cold weather, two throwers placed highly in the hammer throw. Taking back-to-back places in third and fourth, redshirt freshman and captain Kelsey Taylor threw for 51.51 meters, and Ashlyn Gulvas threw for a personal record, reaching 51.50 meters.

The Hawkeyes will return to competition Saturday, when they host the 12th-annual Musco Twilight at the Cretzmeyer Track.
