Johnson County deputies arrested a Columbus Junction man after he allegedly broke into a house carrying an ax.

Steven Borges, 26, was charged April 11 with first-degree harassment, first-degree burglary, assault while displaying a weapon, and domestic-abuse assault.

According to complaints from the Johnson County Sheriff's office, residents of an Iowa City home called officials after Borges allegedly kicked in the door of their home, breaking a window.

The report said Borges then allegedly assaulted a female occupant of the home and kicked in the door to a bedroom where he allegedly punched and kicked a male resident.

Reports said the female resident, the mother of Borges' child, tried to stop the assault but was allegedly thrown to the ground.

The report said Borges was carrying an axe and allegedly said, "Next time, I'll kill," before leaving the home.
