State legislature approves redistricting maps

The state Legislature passed Congressional and legislative redistricting Thursday.

The new plan will now head to Gov. Terry Branstad for hissignature.

The bill would put Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, and Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, in the same district, and would change the number of Iowa districts from five to four. Rep.

Under the proposal, Steve King, R-Iowa, will be in the same western district as Rep. Tom Latham, R-Iowa.

Rep. Dave Jacoby, D-Coralville, will lose several precincts, including one to Rep. Mary Mascher, D-Iowa City.
