Iowa head footbal coach Kirk Ferentz didn’t add much detail on the status of Dan Heiar Tuesday.

Heiar, an incoming junior-college transfer from Iowa Western Community College, was hospitalized after being involved in a single-vehicle accident last weekend.

When asked during Tuesday’s teleconference if he had any further updates, the 13th-year head coach said; “No, just that he was involved in an accident, and it’s significant. We expect him to be hopsitalized for a while. We’re just hopeful everything progresses forward in a good fashion.

“It was an accident; there’s not a lot to say.”

Heiar is a 6-5, 285-pound junior offensive lineman from Charlotte, Iowa.
