Emmure, with Miss May I, Evergreen Terrance, and Lower Than Atlantis, will perform at 5 p.m. today at the Blue Moose, 211 Iowa Ave. Admission is $17.

Emmure will play its metal music with members Frankie Palmeri on vocals, Jesse Ketive on guitar, Mike Mulholland on guitar, Mark Davis on bass, and Michael Kaabe on drums.

The members use the band to take out their aggression instead of using negative channels. The band likes to show that all people have rough times in their lives and there are appropriate ways to let out emotions. Embracing the ideology of kill or be killed, which the members acquired by growing up in Queens, N.Y., they have grown stronger together.

The band Miss May I will play metal as well. Members Levi Benton on vocals, Justin Aufdemkampe on guitar, BJ Stead on guitar, Ryan Neff on bass and vocals, and Jerod Boyd on drums present a more eclectic side to the songs.

Evergreen Terrance is another band playing metal. The group consists of Craig Chaney on guitar and vocals, Andrew Carey on vocals, and Caleb James on drums. The band has recently gone through challenges: It lost a member, gas prices were made things difficult for traveling, and record sales were down because of the economy. The group’s songs reflect its experiences and struggles it overcame.

Lower than Atlantis band members Mike Duce on vocals and guitar, Ben Sansom on guitar, Eddy Thrower on drums, and Dec Hart on bass enjoy playing sad songs.
