Sen. Bob Dvorsky, D-Coralville, said Monday he does not support passing Gov. Terry Branstad’s two-year state-budget plan.

Dvorsky, the head of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said a two-year budget has not been passed since 1983 and a one-year budget has “worked out really well.”

A two-year budget takes away the state Legislature’s Constitutional power and lessens its influence, he said.

The senator said he plans to send a one-year budget to the Senate and “see what happens and go from there.”
